HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED?

 

     Have you ever seen our squad at games, or practice, or anywhere for that matter and wondered what is it about that megaphone that is so special that we take it everywhere?  We don't use it to cheer with, so why is it so special?

     Well here is the real story....when the squad is formed after the try-outs the coaches explain the importance of the spirit megaphone to the cheerleaders.  It is for the cheerleaders who show hard work and dedication along with true spirit at practices and games.  Each week at practice throughout the summer the cheerleader who shows that she is working in and out of practice is awarded the spirit award of cheerleader of the week.  This chosen cheerleader gets to take the spirit megaphone home with them for the week and put their name on the spirit megaphone.  They bring it back at the next practice and it is passed to the next person awarded cheerleader of the week.

     When games begin the squad then votes after every game as to who they feel worked the hardest and showed true spirit during the game.  That cheerleader is awarded cheerleader of the game and not only gets to put their name on the spirit megaphone but the spirit megaphone sits in front of them at the next game so everyone knows that they were awarded the spirit megaphone. 

     Our CJHS spirit megaphone goes with us everywhere we go.  At the end of the season we auction it off at our cheerleading banquet as a fundraiser.   We are stopped and asked about it constantly and we have had severl other squads and coaches, including a few NCA instructors, that have asked if they may "steal" our idea and do this for their squad.  We, of course, would love to see as many squads as possible making this a trend....but knowing that CJHS began the idea and will continue it to always show pride in, and spirit for our squad...and more importantly our CJHS TIGERS!!!!
