CJHS CHEERLEADING

Welcome to the CAPE CENTRAL JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEDERS webpage.

The CJHS Cheerleading squad is comprised of 16 Cheerleaders from the 7th and 8th grade.  We also have the school mascot on our squad.

A leadership team of two 8th grade captains and two co-captains are put in place to assist the coaches as needed and lead the squad on game days, and other various performances.

Try-outs are in the spring for the following school year.  On average there are usually 40-60 candidates that go through the try-out process.  Judges are brought in that are not associated with the school.  Cheerleaders are selected on their try-out score along with teacher recommendations, coaches evaluations, and behavior evaluations.

For the CJHS Cheerleading try-outs the candidates will learn a cheer, jumps, and a short dance over a two day clinic.  Tumbling of a back handspring or back tuck will be counted as bonus and are NOT required.  Each candidate will be given an individual try-out that is closed (not allowing anyone in the gym to watch).  After the try-out process is over each candidate will be given a letter that will inform them of their results and a squad list will be posted.  We do NOT release individual scores or any of the judges score sheets.

If you have any questions over the try-out process or about the CJHS cheerleading squad please feel free to contact either of the coaches at:
